چکیده

The generalized successive overrelaxation (GSOR) method was presented and studied by Bai, Parlett and Wang [Numer. Math. 102(2005), pp.1-38] for solving the augmented system of linear equations, and the optimal iteration parameters and the corresponding optimal convergence factor were exactly obtained. In this paper, we further estimate the contraction and the semi-contraction factors of the GSOR method. The motivation of the study is that the convergence speed of an iteration method is actually decided by the contraction factor but not by the spectral radius in finite-step iteration computations. For the nonsingular augmented linear system, under some restrictions we obtain the contraction domain of the parameters involved, which guarantees that the contraction factor of the GSOR method is less than one. For the singular but consistent augmented linear system, we also obtain the semi-contraction domain of the parameters in a similar fashion. Finally, we use two numerical examples to verify the theoretical results and the effectiveness of the GSOR method. Mathematics subject classification: 65F10, 65F50; CR: G1.3.

Hows and Whys of Reuter’s Agreement: From Contraction to Cancellation

This article is an attempt to survey the contraction and cancellation of the Reuter’s agreement as a one-sided approach and from special perspective, by using minimalistic ideology and with emphasis on multi-sided and various reasons and factors effective in the process of this contract.  On the basis of this research, in this contraction, different factors came together and augmented one anoth...

Common best proximity points for $(psi-phi)$-generalized weak proximal contraction type mappings

In this paper, we introduce a pair of generalized proximal contraction mappings and prove the existence of a unique best proximity point for such mappings in a complete metric space. We provide examples to illustrate our result. Our result extends some of the results in the literature.

Best Proximity Points Results for Cone Generalized Semi-Cyclic φ-Contraction Maps

In this paper, we introduce a cone generalized semi-cyclicφ−contraction maps and prove best proximity points theorems for such mapsin cone metric spaces. Also, we study existence and convergence results ofbest proximity points of such maps in normal cone metric spaces. Our resultsgeneralize some results on the topic.

The effect of knee orthosis on co-contraction values of knee and ankle muscles during running in people with knee deformity in the frontal plane.

Background and Aims: the use of knee orthosis changes the mechanics of running. One of the important biomechanical factors in rehabilitation and injury prevention is co-contraction of knee and ankle joints. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of knee orthosis on changes in the contraction of knee and ankle muscles during running in people with genu varum. Mat...
